Cold Rolled Steel Purlins
To resist the effects of atmospheric corrosion, our purlin range are manufactured in a high tensile quality, continuous hot dip zinc coated structural steel strip. The steel used by Shannonside Galvanizing satisfies the material standard and specification outlined in EN10.326-04 and the tolerances specified in EN10.143-93. This structural steel grade material has a coating designation of 275 grms / m2.
Our Purlins are roll formed into the standard C shape, the dimensions of which are 170-70 x 1.5 galvanized. Purlins can be promptly cut by Shannonside Galvanizing to whatever length you may require. We also offer double and single weld-on fixing brackets to suit same.
Generally, C Sections are used for simple span constructions with the purlins butted at internal supports. In cases where deflection is a design limitation and the building is of a suitable size, single C Sections can be used over two or more bays. The advantage of galvanized purlins over timber purlins is their ability to cover longer distances with no supports (i.e. up to 6.5 meters) which can give a considerable saving in fabrication costs for any structure.
